back home in kansas city.
I had quite a journey to get here. after nasty traffic on the 105, I arrived an hour early for my flight.. not too bad I thought to myself...
too bad the rain decided to make things more difficult.
as you can already tell, I had to wait outside for security. unfortunately, there were more people than shelter, and I, along with a few hundred other poor souls became soaked in an (LA) downpour of rain.
luckily, they diverted us through another terminal for security.
I get on the bus back to the terminal to realize that my laptop was missing!
freaking out silently in my head, I head back up and down a few times, only to realize that in my haste, I had put the laptop in an un-used pocket..relief
I get to the terminal, where the flight was delayed, feeling like a wet dog.
I tried to change in the bathroom as best as I could....
I tried to dry my jeans on the planes air blower and simultaneously dry a sweater ....
my socks were soaked, and I was too afraid to take them off, fearing a horrible wet smell..
needless to say, I made it all in one piece.
I have just finished a great evening with my friend Erica, catching up, making promises we both will keep, and finishing up a good dinner with some CSI back home.
this weekend should be fun.

ridiculous

i look really goofy

way too much fun at karaoke.
so, jon brion was cancelled due to a power outage..sucked..walking in the rain..
but, all was saved when I we went to karaoke at amagi's...
pics will be up soon...way too much fun..
i took a test for my credential on saturday..I think I was the fastest ever... i'm not sure if that is a good sign or now.
i highly recommend the movie "Ong-bak" if you are craving martial arts.
its weird seeing your students at the movies.
gonna see jon brion at the largo tonight! oh yeah!
!
have a good weekend ya'll
oh...
and... i'm coming into KC next friday around 2:30 pm...anyone want to give me a ride?

what happens when you give a student a camera...

when you fall down, its hard getting back up...but eventually, you'll get there
footprints in the snow
a sweater that I want back
memories to me
reggae in the air
sweaty shirt drink in my hand
can't make eye contact
my students the world
teaching them to learn I say
afraid for future
self hatred a fact
can't believe what others say
quite lonely in here
vegan chocolate snack
little tofu cubes on top
helps me forget things
i suck at poetry... sorry haiku lovers, not doing it any justice
575 seventeen syllables
my toes cold no socks
i fell asleep to a thought
when I will be warm
sitting in classroom
papers strewn over the desk
organize they say
dancing to reggae and rocksteady is the best therapy ever.
lots of work to do, tests to take, papers to grade.
i'm gonna be in town feb 18th-21st. give me a holler.
my sister wrote a poem about me.

i love her.
time to work. enjoy your week
i feel like a cowboy, with an open road ahead of him, heading into infinite sunrises and sunsets, teeming with boundless potential, ready to do something
yet, the cowboy misses what is behind him, uncomfortable not knowing if he will ever turn back, or if whats behind his back will ever come find him.
so, he tips his hat, adjusts his saddle, gives his horsie a nudge...
slow and steady
slow and steady
goodbye
