maybe more of the story later

driving while colored

under "suspicion" of marijuana usage

handcuffs

pass blood alcohol test

had to take blood test (trust me, if I had money to buy marijuana...)

after 2 plus hours, all he could issue me was a speeding ticket..

fuck this shit
it is frustrating, trying to be a "model" citizen, trying to do your best for the community, getting shafted in a little hick town, no more than 2 miles away from home.
is it coincidence that I have gotten pulled over and searched before in this town?
for the many times you want to ignore race as a factor in these events, shit like this makes you re-think everything..
no one is safe from this, hatred, ignorance.... what can we do?
there is alot that we can do, but the most effective thing, changing who I am, is totally impossible, and unwanted..

whew!
what a fucking week/weekend
after the stress of finals, I headed out to Los Angeles for Teach For America. Met lots of great people, incredible people, very many good looking girls as well.
anyways, between studying for a test and drinking beers, I have already made some connections with people out there. It is so cool to have people around you that are in a similar mindset and mission. It was the most talked about topic of the night. We were pretty much in awe of eachother and we all agreed that if we work hard, we can do something.
anyways, enough of that stuff.. I had quite an interesting first night with some fellow people.
after the concierge recommended the "alpine hut" we headed out there. we were in for quite an experience. as we entered the alpine hut, a bavarian/german beer house, we heard the sweet sounds of old country music from a live band. upon further examination, we noticed that there was line dancing going on! not only that, but the line dancers were predominantly hispanic and japanese! it all seemed to say to us "welcome to L.A."
the next day, we interviewed with some schools. I was extremely lucky to get hired on the spot. pending test results (hehe) , I will be a new special ed. teacher at Markham Middle School, located in the city of Watts (south central). I am so excited and scared for this huge challenge ahead of me. I am confident that I will do my best for myself and more importantly, the children.

anyways, i'm back in KC and its off to columbia in a couple of days to finish packing... talk to you all later

wow..college is almost officially over..
i had my last final yesterday and turned my paper in.

its time to start packing the bags and boxes that will contain the last three years of my life....thats alot.

I will write my graduation manifesto sometime soon, but not now.
just want to say goodbye to everyone. for some, I'll be seeing you real soon, others... well we just may be seeing eachother..and there are others that I know I will probably never see again in my life, it sucks, but it happens. I want to try my best to keep in contact with all my friends, but It's just impossible, I firmly believe in a right place and time, so, who knows?

for those of you still here, have fun. I know I did.

It's my father's voice dreaming of
Sailors sailing off in the morning
for the air-conditioned rooms
at the top of the stairs

His jaw's been broken
his bandage is wrapped too tight
his fangs have been pulled
and i really want to see you tonight

There's Bourbon on the breath
of the singer you love so much
He takes all his words from the books
that you don't read anyway

His jaw's been broken
his bandage is wrapped too tight
My fangs have been pulled
and I really want to see you tonight

Someone ties a bow
in my backyard to show me love
My voice is climbing walls
smoking and i want love

My jaw's been broken
My heart is wrapped in ice
My fangs have been pulled
and i really want to see you tonight

And it makes no difference to me
how they cried all over overseas
It's hot in the poor places tonight
I'm not going outside

They cried all over overseas
It makes no difference to me
It's hot in the poor places tonight
I'm not going outside

"poor places"
wilco

damn good song

ahhh!
last week of class
then finals!
I'm pretty sure I'm not gonna walk for graduation
its a waste of my time, not to mention my family's time,
as well as a waste of money...
I have the degree, thats what matters, not some ceremony that I'll prob forget...

with that in mind, I believe my graduation party will be may 31st or June 1st
so, you better get your drinking hats on... this shit is gonna get fucked up
