FEELING OLD MOMENT #7
Taking about 50 some odd school kids to the UCLA football game. I became quite annoyed at the amount of college kids banging on our bus in the parking lot. In any other time, I'd probably chuckle at the sight of grown kids trying to rile middle schoolers up.
BUT. they were MY middle schoolers.
As I run out the bus and run up right behind the Bruin fans (could have been Cal fans as well, it was dark), I yell at them to "quit being idiots, there are school kids in there!" I think I hear someone retort "fuck you".
I walk back in the bus.
I'm settling into my new pad, and Its a mini struggle to keep it clutter free. Things tend to pile up in here, but, I'm trying to keep ahead of the mess. It is nice to come home to a clean room. My dad would be happy that I finally realized this, even though it took me 24 years to do so.
I am going through the cliched time of life that I realize that my parents were very right (and very wrong) about many things.

--always use two cups of water to one cup of rice for the perfect pot of rice (corey just learned that rice expands), but for even better rice use vegetable or chicken stock
--I don't need to buy -___ and_____ even though ________
The boondocks comes on tonight on adult swim. bitchin
oh yeah
so, a bunch of fellow faculty were at a new, fancy-ish mexican restaurant for happy hour on friday.
some businessman from NY found out that we were teachers and bought us our dinner, plus our drinks and dessert.
he basically just said that he "admires teachers" and wanted to show his appreciation. the gesture alone was amazing, let alone the fact that he paid for about 12 teachers.
Its nice to know that people are thinking about us.
